The Olu of Alajue Kingdom in the Ede area of Osun State, Oba (Dr.) Sulaimon Adebayo, has called on the state government to harness the economic potential of oil palm production in the ancient community to drive economic development.

The monarch made the call at the maiden edition of the Ileya Fiesta 2026, held at Alajue High School, Alajue, Ede.

He noted that if the community receives adequate support from the government, it can become a major producer of oil palm for the state.

According to the traditional ruler, there are many opportunities in the town of Alajue.

He stated that residents are deeply involved in farming and palm oil production, which can serve the whole of Osun State if properly supported.

Speaking at the 2026 Ileya Fiesta organized for the sons and daughters of the ancient town, Oba Adebayo called on them to return home and invest in projects that would create jobs and accelerate the community’s development.

Oba Adebayo described the gathering as a unique opportunity for indigenes to reconnect, strengthen relationships, and collectively chart a course for the progress of the community.

The traditional ruler noted that the event was also aimed at mentoring and reorienting young people toward positive values and responsible conduct.

He stated that it was a special day for the sons and daughters of the noble town to know one another better and think about how to develop the area.

He added that the community expects them to come back home to establish businesses and create more jobs for the benefit of all.

He explained that the event served to orient the youth on good behavior for their personal growth and for the overall development of the community.

The monarch also appealed to the government not to forget Alajue, noting that while efforts are being made, the community still needs better schools, hospitals, and an improved road network to enhance development in the land.

Also speaking at the event, Barr. Taofeek Olayiwola, representing Ede South State Constituency, described the Ileya Fiesta as a historic initiative capable of promoting unity and accelerating development in Alajue Kingdom.

He commended the Olu of Alajue, Oba (Dr.) Sulaimon Adebayo, for bringing together sons and daughters of the community through the program.

He expressed confidence in the monarch’s ability to attract development and transform the ancient town.

He urged residents and indigenes to support the monarch’s efforts, stating that collective commitment would help elevate the community and attract more development projects.
