Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced that his administration will appoint 4,800 Special Assistants across the 192 wards in the 18 Local Government Areas of the state to deepen grassroots participation in governance.
The Governor disclosed this following a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and members from across the 18 LGAs of the state on Monday.
Okpebholo said the meeting was held to appreciate party faithful for their support and to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to taking governance to the grassroots.
“Today, I met with APC leaders and members from across the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State to appreciate their support and reaffirm our commitment to taking governance to the grassroots,” the Governor said.
He described the APC’s victory in the state as a collective effort, noting that the approach to governance under his administration must also be collective.
“The victory of our party is a collective victory, and our approach to governance must also be collective. Whatever comes from the top must reach the grassroots,” Okpebholo stated.
According to him, the appointment of 4,800 Special Assistants is part of strategic efforts to ensure more people at the community level have the opportunity to participate in government and contribute to regional development.
“As part of this commitment, we are moving forward with the appointment of 4,800 Special Assistants across the 192 wards in the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State, ensuring that more people at the grassroots have the opportunity to participate in governance and contribute to the development of their communities,” he said.
The Governor pledged that his administration would remain inclusive and focused on delivering prosperity to the people of Edo State.
“Together, we will continue to build a more inclusive and prosperous Edo State,” he added.
