Ogun State Police Command refutes allegations of misconduct in Ijebu-Ode rape investigation

23 Mar 2026

The Ogun State Police Command has officially responded to allegations of professional misconduct outlined in a March 22, 2026, petition jointly submitted by the Safer Society for Children (SSC) Foundation and the Elegant Nurses Forum (ENF).

In a statement on Sunday, the Command assured the public that its investigation into the reported rape incident in Ijebu-Ode was executed with the utmost professionalism at every stage.

The named suspects—Kalu Prosper, Oche Destiny, Adamu Paul, and Adewusi Qudus have already been formally charged to court, and the judiciary is actively handling the case to ensure justice is served.

Addressing specific claims by the petitioners that the police failed to protect the victim and instead exposed her to further harm and humiliation, the Command categorically denies any compromise of the victim’s safety or dignity.

Officers strictly adhered to all standard investigative protocols, ensuring that critical requirements such as medical examinations, evidence collection, and proper documentation were flawlessly executed.

The Command insists that the victim’s safety and fundamental rights remained the primary focus throughout the entire investigative process.

To reinforce transparency and accountability, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police has ordered a comprehensive internal investigation into the specific grievances raised in the petition.

The Command noted that it remains fully open to verifiable facts and has pledged to act decisively should any breach of duty by its personnel be established.

“The general public is encouraged to come forward with credible information that could assist the ongoing inquiry. Further updates will be provided as the case progresses, reaffirming the Command’s unwavering dedication to justice, the protection of victims, and the preservation of public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.” The statement concluded.
