The Ogun State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and Renew Power Limited to establish a 500-megawatt Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Manufacturing Plant in the state.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, who disclosed this in a post on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, described the agreement as a decisive step toward achieving a sustainable energy future for Ogun State and Nigeria.

According to the governor, the project will promote energy access, enhance industrial capacity, and accelerate the country’s energy transition drive.

He noted that the partnership would position Ogun State as a key hub in Africa’s renewable energy ecosystem while reducing dependence on energy imports.

“Our vision remains clear — to attract investments that drive economic diversification, create jobs, and ensure that our state remains a model of innovation and sustainability,” Abiodun said.

He added that by expanding local capacity for clean energy production, the state was laying a foundation for inclusive industrial growth and long-term economic resilience.

Governor Abiodun expressed appreciation to the REA and Renew Power Limited for their collaboration and shared commitment to providing reliable, affordable, and clean energy for residents.

“Together, we are building a brighter, greener future for Ogun State and Nigeria,” he added.
