The Ogun State Police Command has impounded six vehicles and demolished several illegal structures that have long contributed to persistent travel delays on the Sango Ota and Ijebu Ode Toll Gate corridors.
In a statement on Monday, the State commanded noted that it has scaled up its enforcement activities under “Operation No Traffic Gridlock.”
In Sango Ota, the Area Commander led a series of strategic night and early morning operations beginning at 0500hrs to dismantle shanties and clear unauthorized structures occupying road setbacks.
These efforts, which included the seizure of six vehicles for various traffic violations, have already led to a noticeable improvement in traffic flow.
Simultaneously, the Ijebu Ode Toll Gate axis underwent a thorough sanitization led by the local Area Command, specifically targeting the indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty trucks and the proliferation of roadside trading.
The systematic removal of these obstructions has successfully decongested the highway, restoring orderly movement for commuters.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajun warned motorists and traders, emphasizing that illegal parking and highway obstructions will no longer be tolerated and that violators will face immediate arrest and prosecution.
He reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to maintaining a visible presence in these corridors until full compliance with traffic regulations is achieved.
