Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 22 year old female suspect in connection with the illegal repainting of a suspected stolen minibus, popularly known as “Korope,” in Omu Ijebu area of the state.
The suspect, identified as Azeez Khadijat, was apprehended by detectives of the Omu Ijebu Divisional Headquarters.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated the incident occurred when security operatives received information that a group of three men and a woman were seen in a bush along Ikhasi Road, Kajola axis, allegedly repainting a Suzuki minibus without a registration number.
“The vehicle was suspected to have originally been yellow in colour before being repainted in white and blue in an attempt to alter its identity,” Babaseyi stated.
He explained that detectives immediately mobilised to the scene, but upon sighting the operatives, the suspects fled in different directions.
Khadijat, however, was found inside the abandoned vehicle and arrested with the mabinus recovered and taken into police custody.
Items recovered at the scene include three mobile phones, a power bank, a paint can, sandpaper, and a Type-C charging cord, all believed to belong to the fleeing suspects.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle may have been used for criminal operations in Lagos State, with the repainting intended to conceal its identity and evade law enforcement detection.
The Police disclosed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, while the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the оperatives for their swift and professional response, assuring that all accomplices involved in the crime would be tracked down and brought to justice.
