Ogun Police arrest 9 over traffic violations

‎The Ogun State Police Command has arrested and arraigned 9 individuals on bases of traffic related offences as part of its ongoing enforcement drive tagged “Operation No Traffic Gridlock” in Sango-Ota area of the state.

‎The Command in a press release disclosed that the operation, carried out by operatives of the Sango-Ota Division, was in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, aimed at tackling persistent traffic congestion and road indiscipline in the area.

‎According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operatives were strategically deployed to identified flashpoints notorious for traffic gridlock, where several vehicles and tricycles were intercepted for violating existing traffic regulations.


‎He stated that vehicles found obstructing the free flow of traffic were impounded in line with the Command’s zero tolerance policy on road obstruction.

‎The suspects arrested include Rufus Kunle, Sanni Ogbewi, Aremu Oluwatunmise, Kayode Ariyo, Wisdom Akpan, Yinka Molaolu, Olushola Adebowale, Ikechukwu Ogah, and Nwuda Chukwuka.

‎He noted that the suspects have since been formally charged to court, while monitoring and enforcement efforts are ongoing to apprehend other violators undermining public safety within the Sango-Ota corridor.

‎The Commissioner of Police commended the professionalism and commitment of the operatives, reiterating the Command’s resolve to enforce compliance with traffic laws across the state.

‎He further warned that anyone found deliberately causing traffic gridlock or disobeying lawful directives of traffic officers would be dealt with in accordance with the law, regardless of status urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its emergency lines.
