The Police Command in Ogun has arrested two suspects, Nnabike Uzolo, 26 and Chino Mgbenya, 28, for allegedly vandalising a telecommunication cable at Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s Spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday in Abeokuta.
Babaseyi said the Ota Division received intelligence from a member of the public at about 7:00 a.m. on July 12 that two suspects were allegedly vandalising telecommunication mast cables in the Mine area of Ota.
“The detectives swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested Uzolo and Mgbenya in connection with the incident.
“Following a thorough investigation, the suspects were charged to court for the alleged offence,” he said.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure, and warned that anyone found engaging in such acts of vandalism will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Babaseyi quoted the Ogun Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, as saying he would continue to sustain aggressive operational strategies against criminality in the state in line with strategic policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
