The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun I Area Command, collected ₦896.54 million in revenue between January and August 2026, exceeding its target of ₦544.35 million, as Deputy Comptroller Abdulhamid Ibrahim assumed leadership of the Command.
The outgoing Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Oladapo Afeni, disclosed the revenue performance during the handing-over ceremony held on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, in Idiroko, Ogun State.
Afeni said the Command’s revenue collection reflected the impact of operational strategies, intelligence-led enforcement, transparency and collaboration with sister agencies. He also reported 327 seizures recorded between 4 December 2025 and 29 September 2026, with a combined Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦14.75 billion.
In his remarks, the new Acting Customs Area Controller, DC Ibrahim, commended Afeni for the achievements recorded during his tenure, noting that his contributions had provided a foundation for the Command’s continued progress.
Ibrahim called for commitment, mutual trust, ethical conduct and teamwork among officers and stakeholders, expressing his determination to sustain operational efficiency and quality service delivery.
“Our collective success depends on commitment, mutual trust, adherence to ethical standards, teamwork and dedication to excellence,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Border Security Forum, traditional rulers, representatives of sister security agencies and other stakeholders, who pledged their continued cooperation with the new leadership.
The stakeholders’ support, Ibrahim said, would be essential to sustaining the Command’s enforcement activities and strengthening collaboration in border management.
