The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, on Thursday presented cheques totalling N30M to families of police officers who died in service.

The gesture, which marked Day 4 of Police Week in the state, was aimed at honouring the sacrifices of officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, while also providing financial support and reassurance to their bereaved families.

DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the State Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, noting that the presentation was done on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu.

“A total sum of N30,552,851.16 was disbursed to the beneficiaries. The presentation underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the welfare of its personnel and the families they leave behind, reinforcing the enduring bond between the Force and its officers, both serving and fallen,” the statement partly read.

Recall that the Nigeria Police Force, on March 23, announced the commencement of the 2026 National Police Day celebrations with the theme: “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”

The week-long celebration commenced on March 30, 2026, with a grand finale slated for April 7, 2026, at Eagle Square, Abuja, featuring tactical displays by specialised units.
