The Ogun State House of Assembly has confirmed the Governor’s nominees for appointment into the State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), affirming their eligibility to assume office following their screening.
The confirmation followed the passage of resolution H.R. NO.165/OG/2026, sequel to the adoption of the report of the Committee of the Whole House chaired by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide. The report was presented by the House Leader, Hon. Yusuf Sheriff.
According to the resolution, which aligned with the request of Governor Dapo Abiodun, it was the opinion of the House that the Governor’s request be granted for the confirmation of all the nominees.
Earlier, the House Leader presented the report and moved for its adoption, a motion seconded by Hon. Lukman Adeleye and supported by the entire House. Presenting the report, Hon. Sheriff stated that the Committee had thoroughly examined the nominees’ curriculum vitae, credentials, and responses during the screening exercise, finding them suitable for the roles.
The motion for confirmation was subsequently supported by the Whole House through a voice vote. Following this, the Speaker directed the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, to forward the resolution to the Governor for further action.
The confirmed nominees include Mr. Babatunde Adetona Osibodu, Mr. Tunji Akoni, Mr. Ayodele Bankole, Mrs. Gbemisola Onasanya, and Mrs. Oluwaremilekun Olaopa.
