Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) move to restore long-dormant state constituencies as a victory for rule of law.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja on Tuesday, the Governor lauded the commission for adhering to a Federal High Court ruling and constitutional mandates.
He noted that the restoration of these constituencies effectively ends years of under representation for several communities across the state.
“History unfolds quietly in moments like this. This is a reaffirmation of justice where the rule of law prevails over convenience. People long denied full representation are finally being restored to their rightful place,” Governor Ododo remarked.
The Governor further commended the leadership of INEC for their institutional integrity, noting that the decision reinforces public confidence in the nation’s electoral system.
He emphasized that the process is more than a political exercise, calling it a restoration of constitutional order that gives a voice to the previously unheard.
Governor Ododo also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for maintaining the independence of the judiciary and the electoral body, which allowed the legal process to reach its natural conclusion without executive interference.
