In a major move to empower youth across Nigeria’s North West, the North West Development Commission (NWDC), the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) have united to deliver a large-scale digital skills initiative across the region’s seven states.
The strategic alliance was finalized during a high-level meeting in Abuja featuring NWDC MD/CEO Prof. Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, NCC Executive Vice Chairman Dr. Aminu Maida, and NITDA Director-General Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi.
Under a single, jointly governed program, the three entities will pool their facilities, technical expertise, and operational resources.
The training framework will utilize NCC’s physical infrastructure alongside NITDA’s digital curriculum and certification model to deliver a hybrid program combining in-person instruction with online learning.
By placing human capital development at the center of the region’s economic strategy, this collaborative effort positions digital literacy as a vital catalyst for boosting youth employability and unlocking the broader economic potential of the North West.
