Culture, community and national pride took centre stage in Iwo, Osun State, as the Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) joined dignitaries, traditional leaders and well-wishers at a three-in-one celebration in honour of Chief Tunde Rahman.
The event featured the conferment of a traditional title, the launch of the STRIVE Foundation and a birthday celebration, all recognising Rahman’s contributions to national development, public communication and community advancement.
The highlight of the ceremony was his installation as the Baaroyin of Iwoland, a title that reflects honour, responsibility and a deep connection to cultural heritage.
The ceremony underscored the continued relevance of traditional institutions in governance and nation-building, reinforcing the role of culture as a key pillar of Nigeria’s identity.
Also unveiled was the STRIVE Foundation, an initiative aimed at driving social impact, empowering communities and promoting sustainable development. The foundation represents a vision that aligns with Nigeria’s broader goals of inclusive growth and human capital development.
Speaking at the event, the NTDA Director-General emphasised the importance of cultural tourism as a tool for national unity, economic diversification and global positioning.
He noted that such celebrations not only preserve traditions but also help promote Nigeria’s tourism potential.
