The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has deployed 1,750 personnel to strategic locations across the state to ensure a secure and hitch-free Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.

The State Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo issued the directive during the year’s first quarterly strategic meeting with top security managers, emphasizing the protection of critical national assets and the safety of lives and property.

Officers have been stationed at markets, recreational centers, and public places to forestall security breaches and maintain order.

Commandant Sotiyo charged Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to maintain professional conduct and collaborate with other security agencies.

While congratulating the Muslim faithful on completing the Ramadan fast, the Command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to ensure a peaceful festive environment.

Plateau State audits High Court ruling on LG tenure

The Plateau State Government is currently conducting a legal audit of the March 13, 2026, High Court judgment concerning the tenure of Local Government Chairmen.

Centered on the interpretation of Section 7(1) of the 1999 Constitution, the ruling has prompted the Governor Caleb Mutfwang-led administration to consult with its legal team to determine the most appropriate administrative and appellate steps forward.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the government emphasized that the judicial process has not disrupted the day-to-day administration of Local Councils or the delivery of essential services.

By framing the current legal scrutiny as a commitment to the rule of law rather than a political setback, the administration aims to ensure long-term stability in grassroots governance while urging citizens and stakeholders to remain calm as the state seeks further judicial clarification.

Lagos reintroduces monthly sanitation to combat waste crisis

The Lagos State Government has clarified that the reintroduction of the monthly environmental sanitation is aimed at entrenching a culture of cleanliness among its 22 million residents.

Speaking on TVC’s Your View, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, revealed that the exercise will officially commence on Saturday, April 25, 2026, between 6:30 am and 8:30 am.

The move follows a Court of Appeal judgment that affirmed the state’s legal authority to enforce sanitation restrictions, reversing a previous halt triggered by legal challenges.

Beyond the two-hour monthly cleaning, the state is transitioning toward sustainable waste management, including the decommissioning of the Olusosun dumpsite and the opening of new landfills in Badagry and Epe.

Lagos State Commissioner, TWahab stressed that the government is prioritizing waste-to-energy initiatives and infrastructure to combat flooding, urging residents to treat the environment as a shared heritage.
