The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State has arrested two students and two farmers over alleged burglary and theft at a residence in Akure.
According to a statement released by NSCDC spokesperson DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, the suspects—James Reuben (23), Monday Reuben (19), Japason Joshua (21), and Lucas Joshua (23)—were apprehended following a complaint from a resident, Mrs. Fagite Funmilayo.
Funmilayo had reported that her home in the Peace and Joy Community, off Airport Road, Oba Ile, was broken into on July 9, 2025, while she was at church. Acting on the complaint, operatives tracked the SIM card of a stolen iPad, which led to the suspects’ arrest.
Investigations revealed that the group had previously been involved in other burglary cases in the same community. The suspects confessed to the crime, and several stolen items, including foodstuffs, household items, clothes, and the iPad, were recovered from their residence.
The NSCDC has urged the public to remain alert and to report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly, as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state.
