The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has donated specialized security equipment to the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command to boost security operations across Nigeria’s seaports.
The handover ceremony took place at the Command’s headquarters in Lagos. Adebowale Lawal, the Port Manager of the Lagos Port Complex Apapa, presented the equipment on behalf of the NPA Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho.
Lawal highlighted that the donation reflects the Authority’s commitment to protecting critical maritime infrastructure, elevating operational security, and safeguarding port users and waterfront operations.
He noted that the new gear will significantly enhance the operational effectiveness of the Ports Authority Police in preventing security breaches and maintaining order.
The donated logistics items include bulletproof vests, tactical helmets, operational boots, batons, handcuffs, raincoats, and high-intensity flashlights designed to improve the readiness, efficiency, and safety of officers deployed across the Western Command.
Receiving the equipment, the Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, expressed gratitude to the NPA for the intervention.
She described the gesture as a strong demonstration of the ongoing partnership between the Authority and the Nigeria Police Force.
Agbaminoja assured the NPA leadership that the operational equipment would be deployed effectively to enhance port surveillance, deter criminal activity, and maintain a safe environment for international trade.
She also reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to collaborating with all maritime stakeholders to enforce global safety standards across Nigeria’s western seaports.
