Nigerian dancer and creative powerhouse Oluwatosin Solaru, popularly known as Noohra, has officially danced her way into the record books, completing a staggering 150-hour dance marathon in a bid to set a new Guinness World Record for the Longest Dance Marathon by an Individual.
The extraordinary attempt, which began on Saturday, 22 June 2025, at Royal Roots Mall, Nile Cinema, Ikota Primary School, Lagos, concluded triumphantly on Friday, 28 June, marking a feat of sheer endurance, resilience, and national pride.
Having long surpassed the previous record of 126 hours, held since 2018 by Nepalese dancer Bandana Nepal, Noohra’s 150-hour milestone propels her into unprecedented territory, setting a new global benchmark for stamina and dedication through dance.
The record-breaking challenge, officially registered with Guinness World Records, was carried out under stringent supervision, with certified timekeepers, medical personnel, and compliance officials present throughout to ensure full adherence to international standards.
Throughout the six-day journey, the venue transformed into a carnival of support and celebration, with crowds gathering day and night to cheer her on. Local artists performed in solidarity, vendors kept the festive spirit alive, and visitors from across Lagos and beyond contributed to the electrifying atmosphere.
Trainer Joshua Oriola, who stayed by her side for the duration, described the final stretch as emotional and unforgettable: “She has done it, 150 hours! This is history. It’s no longer about beating a record. Noohra has set a new standard. She’s danced into immortality.”
Earlier in the week, Oriola had remarked on her unwavering focus: “She came into this mentally and physically ready. Watching her push past exhaustion, pain, and doubt has been both humbling and inspiring.”
The journey was not without its hurdles. A technical glitch briefly paused the official timer at 96 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds, but organisers responded with full transparency, visibly logging the timestamp and restarting the timer under official observation.
A dedicated camera captured the entire dance marathon without interruption, meeting Guinness World Records’ stringent verification requirements. The complete footage, along with log sheets and timekeeper reports, will be submitted to GWR for validation and certification.
Organisers thanked supporters nationwide and encouraged brands and philanthropists to back Noohra’s legacy.
“This is not just a record, it’s a story of courage, discipline, and the unbreakable Nigerian spirit,” they said.
