No terrorist group in Iwo – Oluwo declares

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has vehemently debunked reports alleging the existence of a terrorist group in Iwo, describing the claims as false, unfounded, and a calculated attempt to discredit the peace and security of the ancient town.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, the monarch specifically addressed rumors surrounding the Jama’atu Ta’awunil Muslimeen and its leader, the Grand Mufty of Yorubaland, Sheik Dahood Imran Molaasan.

Oba Akanbi described the allegations as the handiwork of enemies aiming to undermine the religious strength and unique security architecture of Iwoland.

The Oluwo clarified that Sheik Molaasan is a law-abiding citizen and an international asset who has contributed significantly to national security and academic excellence.

Addressing the cleric’s recent interaction with the Department of State Services (DSS), the monarch stated that Molaasan was merely invited by the agency and had honored the invitation, dismissing insinuations of an arrest linked to terrorism.

“I do not know when contributing to strengthening national security and academic excellence is termed as terrorism. No terrorist can enter Iwo,” Oba Akanbi stated.

He highlighted that the organization operates over 40 schools, including a private College of Education and orphanages, established over 20 years ago to aid indigent students.

The traditional ruler also extolled the virtues of the group’s security arm, the Jaysu Security Network, describing it as the most trusted and active local security outfit in the domain.

He noted that the network works in direct collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force to identify criminal hideouts and effect the arrest of hardened criminals, thereby making Iwo one of the safest towns in the South-West.

“One other peculiarity of Iwo is the non-existence of movement restrictions in the name of rituals. You can move freely in Iwo anytime, including midnight. The enemies of Oluwo, Iwo, and the unbroken toughness of Jaysu in defending the sanctity of Iwo are behind the lies,” he added.

Oba Akanbi warned those he described as social media terrorists to desist from spreading fake news capable of causing non-existent tension.

He vowed to set machinery in motion to effect the arrest of individuals peddling such rumors, insisting that every attempt to make Iwo vulnerable to insecurity would be vehemently resisted.
