No Presidential aspirant can match my credentials  — Obi boasts

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has boasted that no other aspirant, including President Bola Tinubu, can match his professional experience in building reputable businesses from the ground up.

This is the former Anambra State Governor asserted that Nigeria’s current economic challenges require a leader with a proven track record in wealth creation and management.

Speaking on the programme ‘60 Minutes with Kay’ on News Central, Obi responded to.recebt comments made by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso who suggested his PhD made him more qualified for the presidency than Obi.

While both men have now moved into the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), with Kwankwaso likely to serve as Obi’s running mate following the party’s decision to zone the presidency to the South, the ideological debate continues.

Obi noted that while a PhD is a respectable qualification, the nation’s immediate need is for a manager who can efficiently allocate resources rather than someone focused on sharing wealth.

Addressing the label of being a common trader, Obi defended the profession, stating that making money through trade is a complex skill that requires immense discipline.

He emphasized that his focus remains on shifting Nigeria from a consumption-based economy to a production-driven one, ensuring that the country can save for the future and navigate its way out of its current socio-economic hurdles.
