…attributes success to production war room initiative

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has achieved a significant operational turnaround, recording its highest crude oil production levels in over twenty-four months according to its January 2026 performance report.

This surge is primarily attributed to the successful implementation of the Production War Room initiative, which streamlined technical workflows and intensified collaboration with security agencies to protect critical pipeline infrastructure across the Niger Delta.

By optimizing well-head performance and completing several long-delayed subsea interventions, the company has effectively reversed previous decline trends, signaling a robust recovery in national output capacity.

Beyond the increase in volume, the report details a strategic shift in the company’s commercial framework.

The transition of high-yield Joint Venture assets into refined Production Sharing Contracts has provided a more stable and attractive environment for international partners, leading to renewed drilling activities.

This structural reform, spearheaded under current management, has not only improved technical efficiency but has also ensured a more consistent flow of crude to both the export market and expanding domestic refineries.

The company’s ability to maintain this upward trajectory reflects a deepened commitment to operational excellence and a disciplined approach to asset management.

Commenting,  Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, noted that these gains are a direct result of the transparency and accountability reforms currently driving the organization.

The focus has shifted toward maximizing the uptime of major trunklines and leveraging digital monitoring tools to preempt operational disruptions.
