The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has invited stakeholders to submit comments and recommendations on proposed regulations aimed at preventing anti-competitive practices and behaviour in the midstream and downstream petroleum sector.
The Authority made this known in a public notice issued in compliance with Section 216(1) of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, which requires consultation with stakeholders before the finalisation of regulations.
According to the notice, the proposed Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Prevention of Anti-Competitive Practices and Behaviour Regulations are open for review and submissions by licensees, permit holders, and other stakeholders.
The NMDPRA stated that interested stakeholders have 21 days from the date of publication of the notice to submit their comments on the proposed regulations.
It directed stakeholders to visit the Authority’s website to review the proposed regulations and use the prescribed submission format available on the site.
The Authority noted that submissions and enquiries should be addressed to the Authority Secretary and Legal Adviser through its designated stakeholder consultation email.
It also announced that a stakeholder consultation forum on the proposed regulations will be held at the NMDPRA headquarters in Abuja on September 22, 2026, at 10 a.m.
