The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has commenced the first half (H1) 2026 Nigerian Gas Network Reconciliation (NGNR) Workshop as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability and operational efficiency in the country’s domestic gas market.
Declaring the workshop open on behalf of the Authority Chief Executive, Mallam Rabiu Abdullahi Umar, the Director of Transportation Infrastructure, Supply and Network Operations (TSN), Engr. Joseph G. Musa, said the reconciliation exercise remains critical to ensuring accurate accounting of gas volumes transported through Nigeria’s gas network.
He explained that the initiative has become an important tool for improving confidence in the country’s gas transportation system and ensuring that gas volumes are properly measured and accounted for.
According to him, since the biannual reconciliation exercise was introduced in 2023, it has improved transparency, strengthened the reliability of gas measurement, enhanced operational discipline and created more business opportunities across the gas value chain.
Musa added that the exercise has also supported a more reliable domestic gas supply by improving pressure management and increasing accountability among industry participants.
He further disclosed that the peer review and internal processes for Revision 2 of the Nigerian Gas Transportation Network Code have been completed, adding that the revised Code will be released soon.
The director urged stakeholders to actively participate in the reconciliation exercise, assuring them of the Authority’s continued commitment to building a sustainable, transparent and efficient gas transportation network in Nigeria.
