…Seeks extension of Bodo-Bonny Road
Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has confirmed that operations on the Trans-Niger pipeline have reached 70 per cent capacity utilisation.
The disclosure was made by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Philip Mshelbila, during a working visit to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, in Abuja. He was accompanied by members of his management team.
Discussions centred on Nigeria’s ambition to raise daily gas production to 10 billion standard cubic feet (SCF) by 2030, a target strengthened by recent agreements, including the Deepwater deal signed with TotalEnergies.
Mr Edun reiterated government’s determination to establish a competitive investment environment that can attract international and domestic players. He noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is stabilising the economy and creating opportunities across manufacturing and energy.
“As we implement comprehensive tax reforms, your input will be vital in shaping a more attractive business landscape,” the minister told the NLNG delegation.
He also assured investors that ongoing reforms, such as the introduction of digital trade systems, would improve oversight, reduce inefficiencies, and promote transparency in the investment climate.
Dr Mshelbila presented an operational update, reporting stronger gas supplies and improved security along the Trans-Niger pipeline. He further requested that the Bodo-Bonny Road be extended to link with the East-West highway, recommending the project be executed under the government’s tax credit scheme.
The talks are regarded as an important step in Nigeria’s wider strategy to unlock energy potential and deliver its production targets, consistent with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the Tinubu administration.
