The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced a public review session for two key regulatory documents: the Draft Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Live Events and the Draft Technical Standard for the Nigerian Data Exchange (NGDX).
This move is part of the agency’s strategy to co-create regulatory instruments that are inclusive, sustainable, and align Nigeria’s digital transformation efforts with global best practices.
The public review is scheduled for Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Digital Economy Complex, NCC Building, Mbora, Abuja, beginning at 9:00 AM. The session is expected to bring together stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and civil society to provide feedback and recommendations.
According to the press release signed by Mrs. Hadiza Umar, NITDA’s Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations, the Draft DPI Live Events aims to support the seamless deployment of national digital public infrastructure and enhance e-government service delivery.
It also seeks to create a framework that encourages collaboration within the private sector.
Simultaneously, the Draft Technical Standard for the Nigerian Data Exchange (NGDX) is designed to establish a unified and secure framework for data sharing across government institutions and private entities.
This is intended to streamline service delivery, reduce inefficiencies, and drive innovation in crucial sectors like finance, healthcare, education, and agriculture.
The NGDX includes strong safeguards for data protection, authentication, and privacy, positioning Nigeria as a leader in digital public infrastructure across Africa.
NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, emphasized the importance of stakeholder participation.
He stressed that the co-creation of Nigeria’s digital public infrastructure is essential to ensure it is resilient, fosters innovation, and builds public trust. He reiterated that the success and sustainability of these initiatives hinge on the active involvement of all stakeholders.
The initiatives are a core part of the Federal Government’s agenda to build a robust digital economy under the Renewed Hope vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They are being developed with the support of international partners, including the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative, and through technical collaborations with countries like Finland, Estonia, Germany, and France.
