The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has brought global acclaim to Nigeria’s digital sector after clinching two prestigious awards at the 2026 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards (GWA) held in Athens, Greece.
Collaborating with Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) and the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), NITDA secured the dual honors in the “Artificial Intelligence in Crisis Management” and “Publication” categories during a high-level global gathering at the iconic Hotel Grande Bretagne.
The award-winning initiative centers on the establishment of the Crisis Communication Hub (CCHub), a national framework grounded in empirical research on artificial intelligence and modern crisis management supported by NITDA.
The CCHub deploys smart AI governance tools for proactive social listening and crisis communication, combats misinformation, fake news, and deepfakes to safeguard public trust, and unites key stakeholders nationwide to streamline communication responses during emergencies.
Hajiya Hadiza Umar, representing NITDA, and Professor Yau Sule of IMPR formally accepted the accolades on behalf of the Nigerian delegation.
The international recognition underscores NITDA’s ongoing commitment to advancing ethical AI deployment, enhancing digital literacy, and spearheading innovative communication strategies across Nigeria.
