In a bid to expand the reach of the National Identification Number (NIN) registration across Nigeria, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Development and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has launched an intensive training program for selected corps members to lead the NIN Ward Enrolment Initiative.
The initiative, which aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, seeks to ensure that all Nigerians and legal residents, especially those in remote and underserved communities are enrolled and issued the NIN in the shortest possible time.
With over 120 million individuals already enrolled, NIMC aims to leverage the grassroots presence of NYSC members to bring identity registration services to all political wards nationwide.
The selected corps members are currently undergoing rigorous training to prepare them for this national assignment.
The NIMC Director General/CEO, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, praised President Tinubu for his unwavering support of the Commission’s mandate.
She also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, and the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu.
Parents and guardians, particularly those with children under the age of 16, are urged to take advantage of the upcoming ward-level enrolment opportunity to register for the NIN, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and efficient national identity system.
