Nigeria’s top energy leaders to converge at NAEC Energy Conference 2025

Prominent figures from Nigeria’s oil, gas, power, and solid minerals industries will gather at the Eko Hotel, Lagos, on Thursday, 9 October 2025, for the annual NAEC Energy Conference.

Organised by the Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC), this year’s edition will introduce the maiden NAEC Industry Awards alongside its traditional conference sessions.

Themed “Nigeria’s Energy Future: Exploring Opportunities and Addressing Risks for Sustainable Growth”, the event will be chaired by Dr Uche Ogah, President of Masters Energy Group. In a statement issued by NAEC Chairman, Mr Ugo Amadi, and Conference Planning Committee Chairman, Dr Adeola Yusuf, a strong line-up of government officials and industry leaders was confirmed as speakers.

Among those billed to speak are Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil); Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas); Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power; Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC); Engr. Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority; and Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited.

The conference programme features three panel sessions dedicated to the most pressing issues in the energy landscape. The first session, focusing on the upstream sector, is titled “Actualising Nigeria’s Energy Future: Optimising Opportunities and Investments for Oil and Gas Production Growth.” The second session will examine midstream and downstream developments under the theme “Driving a Sustainable Energy Future through Investment in Midstream and Downstream Infrastructure.” The final session will centre on power generation, transmission, and renewables, with the theme “Unlocking Power Sector Potential: Infrastructure, Investment, and Innovation for a Sustainable Future.”

Organisers explained that the NAEC Industry Awards are designed to honour outstanding contributions across the sector and encourage accountability. Dr Adeola Yusuf noted that the awards would “set a new benchmark for transparency and industry recognition.”

Other senior executives expected to feature in discussions include Engr. Felix Ogbe, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB); Dr Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI); Mr Roger Brown, CEO of Seplat Energy Plc; Dr Phillip Mshelbila, CEO of Nigeria LNG Limited; and Engr. Osa Igiehon, CEO of Heirs Energies Ltd, among others.
