Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Israel, Ambassador Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu, has formally commenced her diplomatic assignment in the country after presenting her Letters of Credence to Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
Ufochukwu presented the credentials on Monday, August 3, 2026, at an official ceremony held in Jerusalem, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ceremony formally marked the beginning of her tenure as Nigeria’s ambassador to Israel and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding relationship between both countries.
Speaking after the ceremony, Ufochukwu said her administration would focus on deepening bilateral cooperation and advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives through closer engagement with Israel.
She said, “My mission will prioritise the expansion of cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, technology, security, innovation, and cultural exchanges, while promoting stronger people-to-people ties for the mutual benefit of both nations.”
The Ministry stated that the ambassador’s tenure is expected to further consolidate the strategic partnership between Nigeria and Israel while opening new opportunities for bilateral cooperation and sustainable development.
Ufochukwu is also expected to pursue initiatives that will strengthen collaboration in areas of mutual interest and promote stronger ties between the people of both nations.
