Nigerian Breweries PLC delivers profit rebound

24 Apr 2026

Nigerian Breweries PLC has delivered a significant net profit rebound, successfully moving away from previous loss positions to a positive Profit After Tax in the first quarter of 2026.

Operating profit grew by triple digits during the quarter, supported by healthy high-single-digit margins that reflect a more resilient business model.

The earnings were largely influenced by a successful right-pricing strategy and an intensified focus on premiumization.

By prioritizing higher-margin brands, the company managed to offset inflationary pressures and maintain revenue growth despite the general squeeze on consumer spending.

Additionally, the company significantly deleveraged its balance sheet following a successful 2024 Rights Issue.

This move reduced net finance costs by over 80%, virtually eliminating the massive foreign currency exposures that had impacted previous years.
