The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15 gubernatorial election in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has felicitated Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the occasion of the nation’s 66th independence anniversary.

Oyebamiji saluted the country’s founding fathers, patriotic leaders, and nationalists for the rare virtues, indelible imprints, commitment, courage, resilience, sacrifice, and selflessness that culminated in the nation’s independence.

He hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his stellar performance and leadership quality, which have redefined and brought significant transformations to the nation’s fortunes over the past three and a half years.

In a congratulatory statement personally signed and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, Oyebamiji acknowledged the collective and individual roles played by every citizen toward the sustainability of the country’s democracy since 1960.

Recalling the concerted efforts and diehard patriotism that earned the nation its independence, he urged citizens to see the celebration as a period of sober reflection on the past, present, and future of the country.

He also commended past and current national leaders for striving to build a nation of the citizens’ dream where prosperity reigns supreme, the rule of law is guaranteed, and the protection of lives and property is championed.

According to Oyebamiji, the celebration of the nation’s independence is a clarion call to pursue excellence, greatness, and triumph.

He praised President Tinubu for sustaining past gains, building a virile economy, and remaining resolute and irrevocably committed to the well-being of citizens across all sectors.

He urged citizens to celebrate with moderation and use the occasion of Independence Day to offer prayers for divine wisdom, protection, and guidance.

“On behalf of my family, I warmly and heartily rejoice with fellow citizens on the occasion of this year’s independence day celebration.”

“No doubt, today’s celebration is a testament to our collective efforts and desires, as labored for by our founding fathers who fought genuinely and tirelessly for the nation we celebrate every October. The independence of our dear country is not a product of happenstance, but rather a product of concerted efforts borne out of unity, oneness, and progress.”

“As a nation, we have indeed experienced ups and downs, yet we remain an indivisible entity promoting unity in diversity. This calls for us all to rededicate ourselves to causes capable of complementing government efforts in our collective desire to build a nation where good governance, justice, equity, accountability, and respect for human dignity reign supreme.”

“I commend our founding fathers for their selflessness and sacrifices that resulted in what we celebrate annually as our Independence Day. This is indeed the foundation of our joy and shared goal as a nation and a people.”

“I specifically salute our heroes and heroines whose leadership impacts have turned around our fortunes, redefined our democratic system, and led our nation to the path of greatness and prosperity.”

“It is glaring that the current administration under the leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has within three and a half years evidently repositioned our socio-economic fortunes, rekindled our hope, and assured our path to greatness.”

“I appeal to us all to celebrate moderately and use this season to pray vehemently for our nation and her leaders as we continue to coexist as a united entity,” Oyebamiji said.
