Nigeria undergoing long-term transformation toward resilient economy — Edun

8 Apr 2026

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun has stated that Nigeria is undergoing a long-term transformation toward a more transparent, resilient, and inclusive economy.

Speaking at the World Bank’s April 2026 Nigeria Development Update launch in Abuja, the Minister noted that Nigeria’s economy is in transition.

He further cited gains in the economy noting that inflation falling, non-oil revenues are rising, debt-to-GDP is declining and the exchange rate is stabilising.

The Minister also highlighted key structural reforms including real-time digital revenue tracking, forensic audits, reduced cost of governance, and a shift from debt financing to equity and PPP models while stressing that these gains must translate into tangible relief for Nigerians amid renewed global pressures on fuel and food prices.
