Nigeria sympathizes with Venezuela over devastating twin erthquakes

The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the Government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela following the devastating twin earthquakes that struck the country’s capital, Caracas, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

The back-to-back seismic disasters resulted in significant loss of life, widespread injuries, and severe destruction of critical infrastructure across the South American nation.

In a statement released on Thursday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria expressed deep sadness over the tragic natural disaster, which has brought immense grief and suffering to countless families and communities.

The government stated that Nigeria stands in complete solidarity with the people of Venezuela during this difficult period of national mourning.

The statement also commended the courage and dedication of the emergency responders, rescue workers, medical personnel, and volunteers who continue to work tirelessly on the ground to save lives and provide vital humanitarian assistance to those affected by the disaster.

Concluding the dispatch, the Nigerian Government expressed its sincere condolences to all bereaved families and wished a speedy, full recovery to the injured.

Nigeria restated its strong bilateral solidarity with the Venezuelan Government, expressing confidence that the resilient population will overcome the tragedy through national unity, determination, and the collective support of the international community as ongoing rescue, relief, and reconstruction efforts continue.
