The Deputy Governor of Niger, Mr Yakubu Garba, has called on relevant authorities to ensure swift justice over the killing of the President of the Minna Emirate Youth Association (MEYA), Jaafar Dabawu.
Garba made the call in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Ummikhaltume Kuta, on Friday in Minna while commiserating with the family of the deceased over the incident.
The report states that Dabawu was allegedly murdered at his residence around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday by unknown assailants.
The deputy governor described the incident as tragic, painful and heartbreaking, noting that losing a loved one under such circumstances was devastating.
He prayed to Almighty God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give the bereaved family the strength to bear the loss.
Garba also urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding as investigations into the incident continued.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Niger Government to the protection of lives and property across the state.
According to him, the administration of Gov. Umaru Bago will continue to support security agencies to prevent similar occurrences and ensure that those responsible are arrested and brought to justice.
