7 Oct 2025

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee have announced plans to host a virtual interactive session aimed at enlightening Nigerians living abroad on the implications of the newly enacted tax laws.

The session, titled “Impact of the New Tax Reform Laws on Nigerians in the Diaspora,” is scheduled to hold on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. (Nigeria Time). The initiative seeks to clarify grey areas surrounding compliance, obligations, and the overall impact of the reforms on diaspora Nigerians.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr. Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director, Media, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, NiDCOM, Abuja.

It reads: “The dialogue reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusivity and transparency in policy implementation.

“As key contributors to national development, it is essential for Nigerians in the diaspora to be fully informed about the new tax framework and its potential implications for their economic activities.

“The session will feature experts from the Presidential Committee and relevant agencies who will provide practical insights and answer participants’ questions.

“All participants are encouraged to register in advance, via https://forms.gle/gnad3z5Wf7JjcamA8 or by scanning the event’s QR code.”

According to NiDCOM, the interactive engagement underscores the Federal Government’s recognition of the Nigerian diaspora as a vital component of the nation’s economy.

Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, reaffirmed that the conversation will help bridge the information gap between government policy actions and Nigerians abroad who contribute significantly through remittances, investments, and partnerships.

She noted that the tax reform session aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s broader fiscal strategy to ensure fairness, compliance, and inclusive participation in national economic planning.

NiDCOM added that the initiative will also serve as a platform for addressing misconceptions and ensuring Nigerians abroad understand the benefits, rights, and responsibilities attached to the new fiscal framework.

The Commission encouraged Nigerians in the diaspora to take advantage of the session to stay informed, compliant, and engaged in the country’s ongoing fiscal reforms.
