5 Mar 2026

A non-governmental organisation, True Life World Wide Organisation, has condemned the recent killings and kidnapping in Woro community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to the organisation’s Public Relations Officer, Madam Adeyemi Adenike, one of its members, Mr. Koloko Olalekan Remilekun, was abducted when he travelled to the community for business.

She further alleged that during the attack by suspected terrorists, Mr. Koloko’s brother’s wife and two children were killed, while several other residents were kidnapped.

The incident, which reportedly occurred on February 3, 2026, forced Mr. Koloko to flee for safety. His whereabouts remain unknown as of the time of filing this report.

Other survivors were said to have fled from Woro to Wawa and neighbouring communities, trekking about 42 kilometres with their belongings in search of refuge. Many of them reportedly sustained swollen feet and other stress-related conditions due to the long distance covered on foot.

The displaced victims have appealed to the government to secure the release of the kidnapped men, women and children, and to restore peace and security in the area to enable families return to their homes.
