The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has called on residents of Kanam Local Government Area to unite in confronting insecurity affecting the area and other parts of Plateau State.

The APC National Chairman made the call while addressing stakeholders during a condolence visit to the Palace of the Emir of Kanam.

Speaking, Yilwatda urged menbers of the communities to support ongoing security efforts and remain vigilant in safeguarding their environment.

The appeal follows a recent clash between armed bandits and security operatives in Wanka community, which reportedly claimed the lives of more than 20 soldiers and vigilantes.

During the visit, the APC chairman sympathised with victims of the attack and their families, as well as the entire Kanam Emirate, expressing solidarity with those affected by the incident.

He emphasised the need for collective responsibility in addressing insecurity, noting that residents must work together with authorities to promote peace and stability.

Yilwatda also commended the resilience and unity displayed by the people of Kanam in the face of the crisis, describing it as a reflection of their strength and determination.

He urged both leaders and citizens to remain committed to fostering peace, strengthening local security structures and ensuring that communities are safe for all.

The APC Chairman further encouraged residents to reflect on the significance of the Sallah season by promoting compassion, unity and support for one another during the period.

He also extended assistance to some of the victims affected by the attack as part of efforts to cushion the impact of the tragedy.
