Senator Ned Nwoko has expressed disappointment over what he described as a betrayal by the All Progressives Congress following his failure to secure the party’s senatorial ticket for Delta North ahead of the 2027 elections.
Nwoko claimed that he was promised an automatic ticket before defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC in January 2025.
According to him, this assurance played a major role in his decision to join the ruling party after years in the PDP.
The lawmaker’s reaction comes just days after he lost the APC Delta North senatorial ticket to former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa.
Nwoko had left the PDP citing deep divisions and growing factionalization within the party.
At the time, he argued that the internal crisis had become irreconcilable and was hindering the party’s ability to function effectively.
Speaking on the development, Nwoko said he felt let down by the party’s leadership, insisting that the understanding reached before his defection was not honored. The development has sparked fresh debate over internal party politics and the handling of agreements made to political defectors ahead of major elections.
