Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have recovered approximately N169.5 billion worth of opioids following successful raids on three illicit drug warehouses in Lagos State.
The coordinated operation, which targeted strategic locations across the state, led to the seizure of massive quantities of tramadol and other controlled substances.
The enforcement action followed weeks of intensive surveillance by the agency’s tactical units, who identified the facilities as major hubs for the storage and distribution of synthetic opioids.
Beyond the significant financial blow dealt to the criminal networks involved, the agency also apprehended several suspects linked to the management and security of the warehouses.
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers involved for their professional execution of the mission.
He emphasized that the agency remains committed to dismantling the infrastructure of drug cartels across Nigeria to mitigate the social and security challenges posed by the trafficking of illicit substances.
The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue to identify higher-level financiers behind the seized consignments.
