Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered a music speaker rigged with three packs of the synthetic cannabis known as “Colorado” at a motor park in Maza Maza.
This discovery follows a chain of other sophisticated concealment method intercepted by operatives of the NDLEA during recent raids.
In Lagos, the NDLEA Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) operatives intercepted the speaker rigged which was en route to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, with a final destination of Liberia.
This discovery prompted a swift sting operation at a nearby eatery, leading to the arrest of tour agent Ifeanyi Obed Augustine and the consignment’s owner, Obasi Ugochuckwu.
A similar trafficking method was uncovered in Delta State, where arrests in Ughelli and Asaba yielded large hauls of restricted pharmaceuticals including ampoules of pentazocine injection, codeine syrup, tramadol, diazepam, flunitrazepam, and MDMA with several of the illicit substances similarly concealed inside music speakers.
These operations form part of a broader nationwide crackdown that led to the recovery of over 2.3 tons of assorted illicit drugs and the arrest of multiple suspects across several states.
