NDIC bags CRMI award for institutional leadership in risk advocacy

The Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has received the prestigious “Institutional Leadership in Risk Advocacy” award from the Chartered Risk Management Institute (CRMI), recognising its efforts in championing sound risk management practices within Nigeria’s financial system.

The award was presented at the 2025 CRMI Annual International Conference, held at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

CRMI said the recognition reflects NDIC’s dedication to strengthening risk management culture through proactive supervision, comprehensive enterprise risk frameworks, and continuous advocacy.

“The Corporation continues to demonstrate leadership in safeguarding depositors’ funds and enhancing financial system stability,” the Institute stated.

Representing the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Thompson Oludare Sunday, NDIC’s Director of Enterprise Risk Management, Mrs Amal Haruna, accepted the award and expressed gratitude to CRMI for the recognition.

She reiterated NDIC’s determination to advance a robust risk culture and contribute to building a safer and more sustainable financial sector in Nigeria.

This year’s conference, themed “Global Risks, Local Solutions,” explored Nigeria’s distinctive strategies, insights, and innovations in tackling worldwide challenges through inclusive and sustainable solutions.

Key NDIC officials present included Mrs Amal Haruna, Mr Sule Olawale, Director of Claims Resolution; Mrs Adedayo Olukoya, Director of Bank Examination; and Ms Regina Dimlong, Assistant Director of Communication and Public Affairs. Also in attendance was Mr Mohammed, former NDIC Director of Insurance and Surveillance and current CRMI Council Member.
