The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to ratify former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, as its presidential candidate today (Friday) during the party’s nationwide primaries after he emerged as the sole aspirant for the ticket.
The party disclosed that governorship, National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly candidates would also emerge across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory despite logistical challenges caused by the Eid-el-Kabir holidays.
NDC National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, made this known in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to the Chairman, transportation difficulties and the unavailability of flights delayed some preparatory activities following the screening exercise conducted in the FCT.
According to the statement, Thursday was set aside for the arrival of delegates and officials, documentation with the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies, as well as consultative meetings and other preparations ahead of the primaries.
The party leadership expressed confidence in the smooth conduct of the exercise, assuring members and stakeholders that all necessary arrangements had been concluded for a transparent and credible process across the country.
