A Chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Party (NDC) in Rivers State, Mr Tammy Joshua has expressed confidence that his party will win the 2027 general elections across the states of the Federation, describing the duo of Mr Peter Obi and Engr Rabiu Kwankwaso as highly competent team that will attract voters support anyday.
Joshua disclosed this during a media parley in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He noted that the NDC is strategically positioned to make significant electoral gains in both the Presidential and governorship elections, with Rivers State expected to be one of its strongholds due to expanding grassroots mobilisation and increasing political alignment.
According to him, the party has carefully identified and presented what he described as a highly competent presidential team, expressing confidence that the joint candidacy of Mr. Peter Obi and Engr. Rabiu Kwankwaso PhD, represents, in his words, “the best possible leadership combination to steer Nigeria out of its present economic and security challenges.”
He pointed out that Nigeria is currently in a difficult national moment, requiring what he described as “stable, experienced, and visionary hands to man the ship of state,” adding that the country’s trajectory demands urgent corrective leadership anchored on competence, accountability, and national unity.
Mr. Tammy Joshua further emphasized that the Nigeria Democratic Congress is built on strong leadership foundations, highlighting the role of its National Leader, Seriake Dickson, whose experience and statesmanship, he said, continue to provide strategic direction for the party at the national level.
He also noted the strong leadership being provided by the National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses, alongside the entire National Working Committee (NWC), whom he commended for their steady guidance of the party structure across the country. According to him, the NWC has continued to provide necessary direction to state chairmen, ensuring discipline, internal cohesion, and sustained engagement with party faithful, thereby keeping the hopes and confidence of members intact nationwide.
Mr. Tammy Joshua reiterated the importance of regional coordination under Senator Ben Birabi, the Party Leader in the South-South, describing him as instrumental in sustaining unity and strengthening the party’s organisational structure across the region.
On electoral matters, he reaffirmed the party’s commitment to ensuring that future elections are transparent, credible, and reflective of the genuine will of the Nigerian people.
He stressed that every vote must count and be properly accounted for, noting that the party and well-meaning Nigerians will remain vigilant to ensure that electoral processes are not undermined, but are instead strengthened to deepen public trust in democracy.
Mr. Tammy Joshua concluded that the Nigeria Democratic Congress remains confident, structured, and fully prepared for the 2027 elections, as it continues to consolidate support across all geopolitical zones of the country.
