Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has confirmed the appointment of Abubakar Bello as Chairman of Nasarawa State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NASERC) alongside five others as commission’s Commissioners.
Bello is presently the Director of Electrical Engineering with the State Government.
Dr Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House announced their confirmation after the nominees appeared for screening during plenary on Wednesday in Lafia.
Jatau also announced the confirmation of Muhammad Dauda as Commissioner for Technical Regulation, who would also serve as Vice Chairman of the state’s Electricity Regulatory Commission.
“Others confirmed are; Dr Moses A. Arigu, Commissioner for Economic Regulation and Consumer Affairs Division and Ahmed Al-Mustapha Usman, Commissioner for Rural Electrification Access Management.
“Also confirmed are; Mr Ubam A. Adego (JP), Commissioner for Finance and Administration and Mohammed Jibrin Abokee as Commissioner for Legal and Licensing,” he said.
The speaker urged them to bring their wealth of experiences to bear to ensure stable power supply across the state.
Jatau while congratulating them on their appointments, urged them to live above board while discharging their duties.
The speaker, then directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the resolution to Gov. Abdullahi Sule for necessary action.
Speaking with newsmen, Abubakar Bello, the commission’s Chairman assured Nasarawa state residents of constant power supply.
“The duty of the commission is to maintain, generate, transmit and distribute power supply across the state.
“Now that power supply is decentralised, by the special grace of God, there will be constant power supply in the state,” he assured.
The chairman also said that he would encourage investors to the state to ensure constant and stable power supply in the state.
