…Hails Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Leadership

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO), for what it described as a humanitarian milestone in the ongoing decongestion of correctional centres across the country.

In a statement signed by the Assistant Secretary General of NANS, Comrade Adejuwon Olatunji Emmanuel, the student body lauded the Minister for facilitating the freedom of 4,068 inmates nationwide through a ₦585 million initiative that came at zero cost to the Federal Government.

The statement reads partly: “Through this noble action, the Honourable Minister has not only restored hope to thousands of Nigerians but has also reaffirmed the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. This act of compassion and administrative brilliance underscores what effective leadership truly means, one rooted in empathy, efficiency, and reform-driven governance.

“With ₦585 million raised and over 4,000 inmates freed, trained, and reintegrated into society, Hon. Tunji-Ojo has demonstrated the highest level of innovation and patriotism in governance.

“His tireless commitment to reforming the correctional system reflects the new direction of the Tinubu administration, one that values human dignity, rehabilitation, and opportunity over condemnation.

“NANS sincerely appreciates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving Nigeria such a visionary, proactive, and people-centred Minister. The impact of Hon. BTO’s leadership continues to resonate across all sectors, inspiring a new wave of trust in public service.”

According to NANS, the initiative represents the true spirit of restorative justice, aligning perfectly with the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Tinubu’s administration.

Comrade Adejuwon further noted that Nigerian students across the country are inspired by the Minister’s compassion and his drive to reposition the Interior Ministry as an institution of reform and rehabilitation.

He described Tunji-Ojo’s leadership as “proof that governance can indeed be both efficient and humane”, and praised President Tinubu for appointing “men of vision and integrity into strategic positions of national responsibility.”

The statement concluded that under the current administration, “Nigeria is indeed in motion under the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
