30 Apr 2026

The Nigerian Naira concluded the month of April 2026 on a bullish note, gaining value against the U.S. Dollar in the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM).

According to the latest data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Naira strengthened to an official rate of ₦1,374.94/US$1, up from the ₦1,379.46/US$1 recorded during the previous day’s session.

This appreciation represents a 0.33% gain for the local currency in the official window. The trading day saw the Naira reach a peak of ₦1,382.00 and a floor of ₦1,368.00, reflecting a narrowing spread as market liquidity improved toward the end of the month.

The positive trend extended to the Bureau De Change (BDC) segment, where the Naira also saw an appreciation of 0.36%.

Rates in the unofficial market strengthened from ₦1,405/US$1 to settle at ₦1,400/US$1.

Market analysts suggest that the recent strengthening is tied to increased dollar turnover and a renewed sense of stability following the nomination of new leadership within the power and economic sectors.

The closing of the April bullish run in the equities market, combined with this currency appreciation, signals a period of heightened investor confidence in the Nigerian financial landscape.
