The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified efforts to boost its operational sustainment capacity with the inauguration of trainees for Basic Catering Course 6/2026 at the Air Force College of Logistics (AFCOL) annex in Kaduna.
The 6-month programme, comprising 19 airmen and airwomen, is designed to equip participants with essential skills in catering, hygiene, and food management to support personnel across diverse operational environments.
Speaking at the inauguration on behalf of the Commandant, Air Vice Marshal FSC Uwakara, the Dean of the School of Works and Services, Air Commodore YM Abdullahi, urged trainees to take full advantage of the programme to develop contemporary competencies in catering and hospitality management.
He emphasised that quality nutrition and efficient service delivery play a critical role in troop morale, health, and overall combat readiness, noting that the professionalism of catering personnel directly impacts operational effectiveness.
Abdullahi added that the training is structured to instil discipline, precision, and adherence to global best practices required in modern military logistics support, highlighting the strategic importance of the School of Catering and Hospitality Services within AFCOL, describing it as a key component of the Air Force’s logistics framework.
He commended the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, for his continued support towards standardised training and capacity development across the service.
According to him, the recent restructuring that integrated the School as the fourth faculty within AFCOL reflects a forward-looking approach to specialised logistics training, aimed at strengthening synergy among support units.
The initiative, he noted, aligns with the NAF’s broader commitment to enhancing mission support capabilities and ensuring sustainable airpower delivery in line with modern military standards.
