11 Sept 2025

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of its 2025 June/July National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations, with 68.18 per cent of candidates recording a minimum of five credits including English Language and Mathematics.

Registrar of NABTEB, Mr. Mohammed Aminu, announced the results in Abuja on Thursday, and also disclosed the commencement of registration for private candidates ahead of the November/December 2025 examinations.

According to him, 92,875 candidates registered across 1,892 centres nationwide, out of which 89,621 (96.50 per cent) sat for the examinations and were graded. This represents a 37 per cent increase compared to the 67,751 candidates enrolled in 2024.

Of those who sat, 57,651 (62.07 per cent) were male while 35,224 (37.93 per cent) were female. The examinations were conducted nationwide from June 16 to July 17, 2025.

Mr. Aminu revealed that 61,104 candidates (68.18 per cent) obtained five credits and above including English and Mathematics, while 74,633 candidates (83.28 per cent) secured five credits and above with or without English and Mathematics.

In subject-specific performance, 79,575 candidates (93.10 per cent) passed English Language, while 5,901 failed. For Mathematics, 81,172 candidates (94.60 per cent) recorded credit passes, while 4,633 failed.

On examination malpractice, the NABTEB boss said 435 candidates (0.47 per cent) were involved in 516 incidents. Though higher in absolute numbers compared to 349 candidates in 2024, the percentage dropped slightly from 0.52 per cent to 0.47 per cent.

“This is a decrease in the incidence of examination malpractices as recorded in the 2025 June/July NBC/NTC examinations,” Mr. Aminu stated.

The 2025 results show improvement compared to 2024 when 44,000 candidates (65.34 per cent) obtained five credits including English and Mathematics, and 62,235 (92.42 per cent) passed with or without the two core subjects.

Last year, more candidates excelled in English Language compared to Mathematics. In 2024, 63,866 (95.87 per cent) passed English Language, while 60,849 (91.39 per cent) passed Mathematics.

This year’s results reversed the trend, with more candidates passing Mathematics than English.
