A multiple-vehicle road crash involving a loaded containerized truck caused severe traffic congestion on the CMS Bridge corridor in Lagos on Thursday after the truck reportedly suffered brake failure.
According to preliminary reports, the container-laden truck lost control due to mechanical failure while approaching the descending section of Apongbon from the CMS Bridge, connecting the Ofin Canal axis.
The incident completely blocked access into CMS and significantly disrupted vehicular movement along the corridor, resulting in a major traffic backlog stretching across the CMS Bridge.
Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, stated that emergency responders were immediately deployed to the scene to manage the situation and restore traffic flow.
Police officers from the Ebute Ero Police Division were also contacted to provide security and support the ongoing recovery operations.
Although no casualties were recorded in the incident as of the time of filing this report, motorists have been advised to ensure their vehicles are properly inspected and maintained before hitting the road.
Authorities also urged drivers to adhere strictly to traffic rules and safety regulations to help prevent avoidable accidents.
