A displaced family is making an urgent public appeal for information following the disappearance of 32-year-old Oluwadamilola Wuraola Adeyiga and her four-year-old son, Solomon Adeyiga.

The mother and child went missing during a violent midnight assault by armed bandits on Motokun Village, located in the Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident occurred during a wave of coordinated attacks that have increasingly targeted farming communities across the Kwara North and Kwara South senatorial districts, forcing mass rural displacement.

According to the victim’s husband, Mr. Adeyiga, who has since sought refuge in the state capital of Ilorin, the family was forced to flee their home under heavy gunfire in the early hours of March 10.

Recounting the harrowing escape, Mr. Adeyiga explained that the family became separated in the ensuing panic while trying to navigate the darkness.

He had been holding young Solomon’s hand while his wife followed closely behind carrying their infant son, but the severity of the crossfire disrupted their escape route, and he has not seen or heard from them since that night.

Corroborating the timeline of the attack, a fellow displaced resident from Motokun, Mrs. Aisha Abdullahi, noted that she observed a woman matching Oluwadamilola’s description on the outskirts of the village during the raid.

According to Abdullahi, the mother was frantically searching and calling out for her son despite the ongoing gunfire, refusing to abandon the area without him.

In the months following the attack, family members have conducted extensive searches across various internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, transit hubs, and medical centers spanning Ilorin, Minna, and Lagos.

Official missing persons reports have also been filed with the Kwara State Police Command and relevant migration authorities.

At the time of her disappearance, Oluwadamilola, described as a petite woman, was wearing a blue wrapper paired with a yellow blouse. Her son, Solomon, a kindergarten pupil, was last seen wearing a faded green shirt and brown shorts.

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, alongside local security agencies, has stated that joint efforts remain underway to track missing individuals and facilitate family reunifications across the region.

The Adeyiga family is appealing to the general public for any credible leads regarding their whereabouts. Members of the public with relevant information are urged to contact the nearest police division, the Kwara State Police Command at 07035412565, or the family directly at +234 703 545 5827.
